Children in the Wilderness Hosts Its 12th Annual Nedbank Tour de Tuli Bike Race

One of our grantees, Children in the Wilderness, recently hosted its 12th annual Nedbank Tour de Tuli between July 28 and August 2.  The bike race is known as one of southern Africa’s premier mountain biking events.   This year, 350  participants  cycled  across  over  275 kilometers of remote terrain in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
According to the group’s press release about the event, “The Nedbank Tour de Tuli attracts cyclists from across the globe and provides them with an unforgettable opportunity to follow wildlife trails in pristine, wilderness areas. Mountain bikers not only have the opportunity of encountering a variety of wildlife, but the route includes magnificent scenery and cultural interactions with the local communities living on the boundaries of these protected areas.”
The Nedbank Tour de Tuli is the main fundraiser for Children in the Wilderness.  Over the last 12 years, the tour has hosted approximately 3,056 cyclists and raised over $1.2 million!
