Empowers Africa held its annual event on April 20, 2017 at The Explorers Club in NYC to honor Black Mamba field rangers, Leitah Mkhabela and Nkateko Mzimba as well as Craig Spencer, Head Warden of the Balule Nature Reserve and Director of Transfrontier Africa. The event raised nearly USD 200,000 for human empowerment and wildlife protection programs in Africa. The media sponsor for the event was Town & Country Magazine and the auction consisted of prints from James Suter and trips from Africa’s top operators.

2017 Annual Event

Empowers Africa held its annual gala dinner at The Explorers Club in NYC on April 21, 2016. The theme of the event was "Born to Be Wild" and the honorees included individuals instrumental to African lion conservation: Dr. Craig Packer, Director of the University of Minnesota Lion Center; Pippa Hankinson, “Blood Lions” Producer; Ian Michler, “Blood Lions” Consultant; Dr. Andrew Venter, “Blood Lions” Executive Producer & Wildlands CEO. The event raised over USD 173,000 for human empowerment and wildlife protection programs in Africa.

2016 Annual Event

Empowers Africa hosted a special screening of National Geographic’s “Battle for the Elephants” at Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY on August 10th, 2013, along with fashion designer Donna Karan, artist Davina Dobie, and filmmaker and writer John Heminway. Guests included: David Koch, Dorothy Lichtenstein, Nina Griscom, Stewart Paperin, Executive Vice President of the Open Society Foundations and President of the Soros Economic Development Fund, Lynn Sherr correspondent for ABC news magazine 20/20 and Bryan Christy award-winning author and journalist.

Battle for the Elephants

Empowers Africa held its annual gala at The Explorers Club in New York City on April 23, 2015. The event raised over $ 150,000 for human empowerment and wildlife protection in Africa. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Richard Wiese, Host and Producer of ABC series “Born to Explore”. The Auctioneer was Eliza Osborne, Executive Director at the Centre Pompidou Foundation.

2015 Annual Event

Empowers Africa held its annual gala dinner at The Explorers Club in New York City on February 6th, 2014. The event raised over $130,000 for human empowerment and wildlife protection in Africa.
