Grant Announcement: Singita Community Development Trust

Empowers Africa is proud to announce a USD 7,000 grant to the Singita Community Development Trust for the Environmental Education Center at Singita Grumeti in Tanzania that educates local youth about conserving one’s environment and minimizing human impact on Earth’s natural resources.
The program works on a 22-school rotational basis in which local students complete a five-day residential course. Upon course completion, the students, now agents for change, act as conservation catalysts by establishing environmental clubs for their peers, planting indigenous trees in the community and addressing the numerous critical environmental challenges that their local environment faces on a daily basis. The primary focus of the program is to teach practical approaches to sustainable living.
