The Virunga Fallen Rangers Fund was established to provide critical support, employment and training to the widows and children of Virunga rangers killed in the line of duty. Along with monetary support for a period of time, widows are offered the opportunity to take part in sewing training workshops, the ultimate goal of which are to provide skills and training for a sustainable future and to foster a sense of community. The ladies learn to make an array of products from curtains to napkins, toiletry bags to cushion covers, and our 2019 grant funds will purchase an industrial sewing machine, pattern cutting equipment and a teacher for a class of women.
