With an estimated population of just over 6,000, the African wild dog is considered one of the most endangered mammals in the world.
African wild dogs are found in Eastern and Southern Africa in Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, with isolated populations in Zambia, Mozambique, and Kenya. Habitat loss, human-wild dog conflict, diseases, and poaching are the main threats to the survival of this species.
