Umani Springs
Umani Springs Reintegration Unit is located in the Kibwezi Forest and is home to several older orphaned elephants that suffered heart-breaking trauma, both physical and psychological, at the hands of humans. After long recoveries at their nursery, many still suffer lasting effects from their injuries. It is with hope, love and patience, they should still be able to return to the wild and reintegrate into local elephant herds at their own pace.
With help from donations, 156 orphaned elephants have returned back to a wild life, with several even going on to have wild born babies. If you’re interested in becoming a part of an orphans’ survival story by adopting an elephant in our care, click here.
