Empowers Africa Trustees Make Grant to Doctors Without Borders
Due to the generosity of several Trustees, including Suzanne Leydecker, Jenny Kennedy and Zita de Zagon, Empowers Africa was able to make a grant to Doctors Without Borders to assist in their fight against Ebola in West Africa. Since Ebola was first identified in March, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been the major responder to this unprecedented outbreak. They have mobilized more than 3,000 staff members running programs in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. MSF is training local and international health staff, implementing infection control, and educating communities about Ebola. Empowers Africa is immensely proud of Doctors Without Borders and all the medical professionals who volunteer for MSF for coming to the aid of the thousands of men, women and children affected by this outbreak (www.doctorswithoutborders.org).
