Earlier this week, African Parks successfully completed the largest single rhino translocation ever undertaken! Scroll through the gallery to view the 3,400 km journey that the rhinos made from South Africa to Rwanda, and have a read of the story below:⁣

“On Monday, we announced that 30 wild white rhinos had been successfully translocated to @akagerapark in Rwanda from Phinda Game Reserve in South Africa. White rhinos are classified as near threatened with their numbers in decline due to poaching driven by demand for their horns. This historic translocation, which was carried out in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), @andbeyondphinda and with funding provided by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, aims to extend the species’ range and create a secure new breeding stronghold in Rwanda, supporting population growth to ensure the long-term survival of the species.” ⁣
