Victoria Falls is one of the greatest spectacles in the world and offers a breathtaking sight of grandeur located on the Zambezi River, defining the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Scottish missionary and famous explorer of Africa David Livingstone stumbled across the waterfall on his journey from southern Africa to northern Africa to preach Christianity in 1855 and named it after Queen Victoria.
The Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800s referred to it as “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – The Smoke that Thunders. The noise of the splashing water can be heard from up to 40 kilometers away, whereas the spray and mist from the cascading water can be seen 50 kilometers away.
