The bond between a baby elephant and its mother is one of the closest of any animal on earth. It’s a rare privilege to observe the relationship, and witness such a profound level of care and intimacy. #savetheelephants

Since the day an elephant calf is born, it relies heavily on its mother. To witness this bond, and to document it is amazing. Calves wean themselves from their mothers’ milk anywhere between five to ten years.
Their bond can last a lifetime – if it’s a female calf she more than likely will remain with her mother in the herd for the rest of her life.
