Crabs are often overlooked due to their tiny physique, but they are one of the few beings that can live on both land and sea, and they are among the most ingenious, flexible, and resilient creatures on the planet.
Ghost crabs, also known as sand or white crabs, are very pale, often invisible, and come out to hunt only at night, thereby giving them their unique name. They are capable of changing colors to avoid detection by predators.
Human disturbances on sandy beaches have a negative impact on these unique creatures. They are often victims of trampling and the inorganic pollutants left by humans in their habitat. Ghost crab burrows are rated as excellent ecological markers for promptly determining the effects of human impact on marine zones because of their extensive distribution and the convenience of surveying their tunnels.
