Earlier this year, Conservation Through Public Health (@ctph_uganda ) received a grant from Empowers Africa. CTPH focuses on reducing disease transmission and improving the health and livelihoods of people, gorillas and livestock that coexist in and around Africa’s protected areas. Grants Program Manager, Ally Lebron, recently visited CTPH at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda to see the results of Empowers Africa’s grant for human-wildlife conflict mitigation initiatives. The grant included funds for the Reformed Poacher Project and the HuGo (Human-Gorilla Conflict Resolution) program, which equips community volunteers to safely and appropriately respond to wildlife encroachment incidents in the communities.
We thank CTPH for their important human empowerment and conservation work in the region! 🦍
