SAVE African Rhino Grant

Empowers Africa made a grant to Save the African Rhino Foundation for the support of salaries of anti-poaching rangers in the Greater Lebombo Conservancy, enabling closer surveillance of the Mozambique/Kruger National Park border. The Greater Lebombo Conservancy (GLC), an area of 2,483 km2, is currently the most critical piece of land on the planet for rhino conservation.
This grant was made possible by Todd Burton & Donald Robertson. Todd, aka “Rhino” (rhinosurfer.org) is a surfer & conservation advocate on social media and Donald Robertson (donaldrobertson.com), the “Warhol of Instagram” is an executive Creative Director at Estee Lauder with a robust art & collaboration resume. The two connected on Instagram in 2013 and launched the collaboration for World Rhino Day in September of 2015. Burton says, “When we talk about saving the rhinos, we want to do much more than that. Saving the rhinos is just where our story begins but our vision embodies a purposeful lifestyle where we come together for what is good, what is just, and for what is beautiful.” We must work together for change and that is why collaborations will be the foundation of our efforts.
