Care for Wild Africa Rhino Sanctuary

The Care for Wild Africa Rhino Sanctuary, located in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is dedicated to the protection of rhinos and other endangered species against poaching. The facility features a treatment and care center where animals are rehabilitated until they are healthy enough to be returned to the wild. Although Care for Wild Africa specializes in the rehabilitation of rhinos, they also rescue orphaned, abandoned, injured or displaced reptiles, mammals and indigenous birds. Certified veterinarians regularly visit the center to check up on the animals, while volunteers keep the facilities clean and the animals fed. The center was established by Petronel Nieuwoudt, the former captain of the South African Endangered Species Protection Unit.
