WildlifeDirect

WildlifeDirect was founded by African conservationist Dr. Richard Leakey, who is credited with putting an end to the elephant slaughter in Kenya in the 1980s. Regrettably, poaching is back at levels, if not curtailed, that will lead to the extinction of the African elephant. WildlifeDirect was established in 2006 to provide support to conservationists in Africa directly on the ground via the use of blogs, enabling individuals a direct and interactive role in the survival of some of the world’s most precious species. More recently, WildlifeDirect has been widely recognized for its singular successes in advocacy and the engagement of the people of Kenya to support the protection of elephants.

As leaders in their field, WildlifeDirect is responsible for the influential Hands Off Our Elephants, a flagship campaign comprising a winning combination of expertise including wildlife ecologists, communications specialists, lawyers, politicians, media representatives, strategists, and linguists, making us bold, influential, and successful.
