Today is the tenth #WorldPangolinDay
Conservationists estimate that one pangolin is poached from the wild every five minutes due to the huge demand from the African and Asian traditional medicine markets. The decimation of the Asian species has seen a dramatic spike in demand for the African pangolin. They are one of the most trafficked animals in the world.
Empowers Africa acts as the fiscal sponsor to Pangolin Africa, a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to the survival of the pangolin. Today is a day to celebrate these organisations who work so tirelessly to protect and preserve. It’s also a day to spread the word and educate so that the conservation of pangolins becomes conscious.
