Sharing this update from our friends and partners @singita_ and the Singita Lowveld Trust in South Africa who deployed their first highly-skilled dog handling unit in 2012 in response to the rhino poaching pandemic.
The dogs are now an essential part of the anti-poaching team in the Sabi Sands, on the border of the famous Kruger National Park, and it’s amazing to see them go from strength to strength! 🐕
Posted @withregram • @singita_ Our non-profit partner in the Sabi Sand region, Singita Lowveld Trust launched a specialised K9 unit in 2012, made up of highly trained, dedicated and courageous dog-and-tracker pairs.
This relationship between human and canine is one of the keys to the enormous strides SLT has made in combating rhino poaching and is one of our most successful conservation projects, highlighting the impact teamwork can make in the fight for the survival of endangered species.
Built on trust and communication, these pairs work together to form one of the most effective defences we have against the ever-evolving tactics of poaching syndicates. Tshepiso and Lucky are two of the members of this elite team.
