Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Central Kenya’s Laikipia County. It is the largest black rhino sanctuary in east Africa and home to over 110 critically endangered black rhino and the two remaining northern white rhino on earth.
It is also home to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary that provides a refuge for chimpanzees rescued from the black market. Over the last decade, the Sanctuary has provided a safe haven for the recovery and rehabilitation of many chimpanzees and is currently home to 35.
They may not be in the limelight as much as rhino, but chimpanzee are sadly endangered and of global conservation concern. This project is much needed and crucial to safeguard their future.
Thank you @olpejeta 🏼
Posted @withregram • @olpejeta Pasaka is a playful little fellow, who spends lots of time with Amahirwe and Max, and teases Ali Kaka when they’re in the small enclosure.
He’s brave and cheeky and comes up with all sorts of games to entertain himself and his friends.
Have you had a chance to see him at Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary?
