Nyala are spectacular antelopes that rarely come out into the open, requiring patience if you wish to see one in the wild.
Lowland nyala are native to southern Africa with a maroon or rufous brown coat in females, and dark brown or slate grey coats in juveniles. Adult males commonly aport a coat tinged with blue.
Major threats to the nyala population include habitat loss, agriculture, and cattle grazing. Poaching is another severe threat to these beautiful animals.
