NEW CALF UPDATE: 🦏 On Monday, the Timbavati and CFW teams joined forces to rescue a small calf. In a rescue mission that faced many challenges, the calf was successfully removed from danger and was taken to Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary. He spent the first few days in the ICU where he received round the clock care. Petronel and the team worked hard to stabilize the calf and give him intravenous fluids until he began to drink strongly from the bottle. We are happy to report that he has now moved from the ICU and down to the bigger bomas. He is still quite nervous and unsure, very common in the early stages of adaptation. He is still processing events and learning to live without the care and guidance of his Mom which is why the caregivers are working hard to gain his trust. When he is a little more settled, he will meet his neighbors, Anchor, Yster and Cotton, who will help him to feel at peace and to feel safe.
