Visit to Azura’s Rainbow Fund

Empowers Africa Trustees and Advisory Committee Members had the pleasure of visiting a primary school on Bengeurra Island that was built by Azura’s Rainbow Fund.  Azura’s Rainbow Fund is Mozambique’s first officially registered charity organization that is directly affiliated with a tourism property.  The organization’s mission is to provide long-term education and health care improvements for the local community members of Benguerra Island.  The Rainbow Fund has implemented projects, such as, the construction of the primary school and teachers’ accommodations, providing uniforms and clothing for students, sponsoring a struggling family in the community each month, organizing social and up-lifting community events and tertiary educational costs for high school students.  The school has approximately 360 children from grades 1 to 7 and it is the only school on the island.  To learn more about the Rainbow Fund please visit www.azura-retreats.com/benguerra/rainbow-fund.
