Happy World Rhino Day! 🦏
Today aims to raise awareness and protect the remaining rhinoceros population worldwide. These armored giants are a symbol of strength, resilience, and tenacity.
There are five species of rhinos: black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran, and Javan rhinoceros. Of these species, the white rhino and black rhino are found in Africa and are listed as near threatened and critically endangered by IUCN. These magnificent creatures face severe threats due to poaching and habitat loss and desperately need our support.
At Empowers Africa, we support various conservation projects such as anti-poaching patrol salaries, microchipping rhinos for anti-poaching purposes, funding rhino sanctuaries that provide rehabilitation and care for orphaned rhinos, and more.
